GHGm president, Dr. Steven Young, is quoted this month in a topical article published by the Toronto Star — Canada’s largest circulation newspaper. The piece provides insights from various Canadian and international experts on expecations regarding Canada’s domestic plans for Large Final Emitters (LFE), Offsets, the billion dollaer Climate Fund, and purchase of international carbon credits.Dr. Young is quoted as saying “There’s a lot of devil in the details,” in reference to the evaluation and quantification of GHG emissions under Canada’s proposed Offset System for Greenhouse Gases. Further information on Offsets is available at GHGm’s website on the Carbon Credits page.
The newspaper piece, titled “Banking on bad-air barter” by feature writer Peter Gorrie is available from www.torstar.ca dated November 7, 2005.
Do you understand ISO 14064 Part 2?
What are your baseline procedures and criteria?
We provide support to groups developing draft protocols for the Canadian Offset System for Greenhouse Gases. To date we have drafted GHG protocols consistent with ISO 14064 Part 2, as seed documents to the Offsets process, in the areas of:
- Biofuels for vehicle transportation (ethanol and biodiesel)
- Photovoltaic grid-connected electricity generation (non-emitting renewable power)
- Small hydroelectricity grid-connected power generation (non-emitting renewable energy)
We are presently working with project developers in agriculture, biofuels, waste, renewable energy, and alternative fuel vehicles - helping them to realize their carbon assets.
Whether thinking domestically or overseas, it’s important to have project design documents based on solid protocols - and to ensure that your monitoring and reporting plans are both sufficient and cost-effective. We have experience in assisting projects in these areas and more.
